Hints and tips –        Put a stitch marker into the last stitch of every row to help maintain stitch count.

 

–        Try not to make your slip stitches too tight in the foundation border round as it is otherwise difficult to pick up the stitches for the front/back border

 

–        Beg 1 ch does not count as a st

Special stitches/abbreviations Cluster (cl) [Yrh, insert hook into indicated st, yrh, pul, yrh, draw through 2 loops] 4 times in same st, draw through all 5 loops on hook

Spike treble Yrh, insert hook into st 2 rows below, yrh, pull up a loop to height of current row, [yrh, draw through 2 loops on hook] twice

 

Standing htr: With slip knot on hook, complete htr in indicated st.

 

Standing dc: With slip knot on hook, complete dc in indicated st.

 

Base loop of sl st (base loop): When viewed from back of sl st, the horizontal line/loop visible under the top loops of the st the sl st was made in. This line/loop is the only part of the sl st visible on the back side of the st.
